Get to know DCHC!

This year, Detroit Community Health Connection is celebrating 30 years of providing quality health care to Detroiters. Yet, with life changes and population shifts, there are many who don’t know who we are or what we do.

We are an FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center), and provide quality health and dental services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. This includes those who have insurance, as well as those who are under or uninsured. This is a major service, especially because we have six convenient locations within the boundaries of the city of Detroit. We are where we are needed most, and are planning our seventh location!

We provide primary care, dental and behavioral health to all ages. Primary Care is defined as Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and OB/GYN services. We have specialized services that include a Healthy Teen Center just for our adolescents/young adults; HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, and we also provide behavioral health services through our partnership with Northeast Guidance Center.

Our Outreach Team is out and about, and always ready to help our community with signing up for insurance through the Marketplace or providing any additional assistance and support needed.

So, today is the perfect time to learn more about DCHC. The summer months are ideal to get ready for school (it’s never too early), and to take care of those things—like a regular check-up—that you’ve been putting off for yourself or your loved ones.

Or, you can take one step closer to us and join us at the Wright Museum of African-American History for our Annual Meeting and Awards Celebration on October 5th. Here, we honor and celebrate those who share and support our mission. It helps to raise awareness and funds for our efforts.

You see, as an FQHC we are federally funded, which means we must also abide by strict federal guidelines and oversight. This sometimes limits out ability to generate additional funds to underwrite service provision. That is where we get a little help from our friends who attend our events and support us as they recognize and respect health care for the valuable community asset that it is.
